  1. Choose your colour and the proper paint finish for each room.
  2. Clean walls. Remove dust, dirt, and grease spots (which can ruin a smooth finish) with water and TSP or a little mild dish washing detergent, and a cellulose sponge.
  3. Tape the trim, window, and door frames.
  4. Prime the walls.
  5. Brush where you can't roll.
  6. Roll the walls and use the W technique.
  7. Paint the trim.
